If you are about to go on a first date, you should take note of these things which you are supposed to do and those you should not try doing.
1. Overthinking everything
“When you’re on the date, don’t overthink every little thing. You can have a great first date but don’t expect it to be the most amazing night of your life.
“Don’t take it too seriously and think about all the things you wish you could have said instead. Just enjoy it."
2. Don’t look them up on social media
As hard as this sounds, not looking them up on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter – or any other social media sites will make the date better and more exciting.
Caroline said: “Don’t Google them, don’t Facebook them.
“Go on a date with an open mind, don’t make any pre-date judgements. If you go in with that mindset it’s never going to work.”
3. Don’t talk about yourself too much
Caroline said this is something easily done when nervous – but it can come across the wrong way.
“It’s a two-way street, don’t dominate the conversation. And don’t talk about work – there is nothing worse than someone waffling on about their work.
“It’s really easy to get carried away talking about interests and passions, I especially see a lot of men aged 35 to 45 who are really into sporting and triathlons.
“Women report back to me and say they go on about it.”
4. Don’t leave them hanging
In this day and age, ghosting (never contacting the date again) is more commonplace than ever.
Caroline said: “Don’t leave them hanging.
“If someone’s given up their time to spend time with you, make sure you drop them a line even to tell them it was nice meeting them but you don’t think it will work out.”
5. Don’t be rude
While this may seem straight forward, Caroline said she’s heard of it happening and said it has even happened to her – being rude is an instant put off.
So what should you do on a first date?
Caroline said you should “really try and get to know someone and give them an opportunity to talk about themselves.”
She added: “First dates can make people nervous so it’s always a good idea to give someone a second chance.
